The M.A. in Integral Noetic Sciences is a 56-quarter-unit graduate program for students seeking scholarly training in noetic sciences, consciousness studies, philosophy of mind, contemplative and esoteric traditions, subtle energy anatomy, and integrative approaches to research and transformation.

The program may stand on its own as a complete master’s degree, while also providing valuable preparation for CIHS’s Ph.D. in Integral Noetic Sciences. Students develop a foundation in scholarship, research, contemplative inquiry, philosophical reflection, and the ethical application of noetic science to the needs of our current historical moment.

The program is designed for distance students, with optional in-person retreats, workshops, and research opportunities at the CIHS campus in Encinitas, California.

Quarterly Start Dates

Students may apply throughout the year, with intakes available at the beginning of each quarter so they can begin when the timing is right.

Research Labs & Centers

Students have access to CIHS’s labs and research centers, including the Laboratory for Consciousness Science, Subtle Energy Research Laboratories, and one of the largest Faraday cages in the region.

Optional INS Retreats

Students may participate in optional in-person INS retreats and research gatherings on the CIHS campus in Encinitas, California. The next INS retreat is planned for September 2026.

Graduates of the M.A. program will be prepared to:

Core training with room for focused exploration.

Students complete a shared core curriculum and then use elective coursework to deepen inquiry in areas such as contemplative traditions, esoteric traditions, subtle energy, anomalous experience, UAP studies, nonduality, leadership, and AI and consciousness.

Admissions

How to apply.

The CIHS admissions process is designed to be clear, personal, and program-specific. You can begin by requesting information, speaking with Admissions, or starting an online application when you are ready.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, from a regionally accredited institution. Admission is subject to transcript review and may be subject to additional prerequisites depending on prior academic preparation.

CIHS admits students throughout the year, with program starts available at the beginning of each academic quarter. We recommend beginning the admissions process early so there is time to review materials, answer questions, and prepare for the next available start date.

Applicants living outside the United States are welcome. CIHS works with students from many backgrounds and locations, and our admissions team can help applicants understand transcript review, program format, and documentation requirements.

Students whose native language is not English must submit a satisfactory English proficiency score through an approved test such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge CEFR, Duolingo, or Pearson Test of English Academic.
