Biography

Dr Farnaz Khoromi is a California licensed psychologist. She is currently serving as Co-Director of the Psychology Program at CIHS and director of the Psychology PhD program’s clinical licensure specialization. He is also an Engineering Professor at San Diego City College and has a private psychology practice in San Diego, California.

Her background is very diverse and multidisciplinary, combining engineering, mathematics, psychology and Islamic Sufism. She is fluent in Persian and French.

Her engineering background spans from mechanical to manufacturing engineering, as well as quality management in the fields of power protection systems. She is a Six Sigma Green Belt and Champion.

In the field of psychology, her counseling experience includes working with acute mental illness, chemical dependency, and domestic violence. In her private practice she uses a combination of humanistic psychology, positive psychology, and Sufi psychology.

Dr Khoromi is a lifelong student of Sufism, and has been trained under the guidance of His Holiness Hazrat Salaheddin Ali Nader Shah Angha, the eminent 42nd Sufi Master of the School of Islamic Sufism, http://mtoshahmaghsoudi.org/. For the past 30 years, she has been a lecturer and has held classes on Islamic Sufism and Tamarkoz® or Sufi Meditation. As a public speaker, Dr. Khoromi has presented regularly at the annual Sufi Psychology Conferences. She was invited by the California Marriage and Family therapy Association to present on “Spirituality and Psychotherapy” at their 39th annual conference. She has served as a faculty adviser to the certificate of cultural diversity at San Diego State University, where she has taught seminars on Islam and Sufism.

She is very enthusiastic about the mind, body, and consciousness approach at CIHS and  combines her multidisciplinary and multicultural background to help direct the psychology program and participate in scientific research connecting science, psychology and Sufism.
